Spring is a spectacular time to discover what's coming to life in the Chippewa National Forest, or to immerse yourself in all the luxuries of our many beautiful surrounding lakes.
Spring in the Leech Lake Area is the perfect place to be to stretch your legs after a long winter. Enjoy the budding trees and blossoming wild flowers along our magnificent trails that line our lakes' shores. Take time to enjoy the hundreds of different songbirds, waterfowl and other birds as they return to their natural habitat from their winter's journey. The area has one of the largest bald eagle populations in the state, and is truly a bird watcher's dream.
Fishing Opener in the Walker Lake's Area is a tradition to regard. Area lakes suit every desire from small to large: choose the serene quiet waters of a small, hidden lake, or the excitement of the wider open waters for your fishing indulgence.
