Lake Country Scenic Byway
Many Thanks goes out to The City of Walker, Walker Rotary & Walker American Legion for sponsoring the Scenic Byways sign on Highway 34, to be installed as soon as possible.
Walker, along with Detroit Lakes, is an anchor town for the Lake Country Scenic Byway. Walker benefits from being an anchor as Byway travelers start or finish in our inviting Town.
Hundred's of Lake Country Scenic Byways maps have been given away to visitor's in 2007.
There is a nice map at the Chamber office if you haven't seen it,come in and pick one up.

Ethnic Fest
Thank you to all who attended and made the 15th Annual Ethnic Fest wonderful. We did get a little wet on Saturday, but still managed to pull together with the Chamber Volunteers and The Community of Walker and have a fantastic event. Many visitor's and community members shed a tear during our Military Salute. People were very excited that the parade was very wonderful this year. Due to rain and cold temperatures the Street Dance had to be cancelled after many attempts to relocate it. The Leech Lake Area Chamber of Commerce would like to thank Pat Ogden for being Chair Person for the 2007 Ethnic Fest and the very strong committee. It really was a wonderful experience for the chamber to be able to work with such motivated and positive people.
Thank you for the financial support of the numerous businesses and individuals. We would not be able to host this event without all of this support.
September 26, we had a Wrap Up & Goal Setting meeting at the Chamber Building. Plans for the 2008 Ethnic Fest are underway as Pat Ogden and Sherri Moe will co-chair the event. If you wish to sit on the 2008 Ethnic Fest committe and share your idea's or talents please feel free to contact the Chamber Office.

Fall Has It All
10 Big days of fun things to do in Walker, Hackensack, & Longville.
The Wine and Fashion Walk was a wonderful addition to Fall Has It All, thanks to Stephanie Freeman, Pat Kastning & Jane McCauley. Women and even Men enjoyed seeing the Fashions from our Leech Lake Area Chamber of Commerce stores.
Garden Tour was very successful and included all three Chambers as partners in the event.
Two exciting new events were added this year.
Next year for Fall Has It All, the committee is trying to extend the event another week.
We need some idea's for Walker to host something in addition to what we already have going.
Put on your thinking caps and let's come up with more unique additions for Walker to add in the extra week.
It's a good opportunity for a Non-Profit to do a fundraiser to add to event.
Anyone interested or comes up with a new idea, please contact us at the Chamber Office.
