Leech Lake Area Champions Dinner

We all learned alot about the 2008 Community Champions.

A Big thanks to Barb Sherman for chairing the event for the chamber again this year.

Thanks to Jeff Holly for doing a great job as Master of Ceremonies.

Did you know Joe Sherman has a TWIN.

The Roasts & Toasts were some of the best we had in many years.

We have many talented people in our area. Thanks again for those who supported the Champions Dinner event this year.

Explore MN. and Heartland Tourism Association

In 2007 Explore MN. launched a new tourism website that offers many exciting new elements. One of these is the top 10 favorite's webisodes that are submitted by the public.

You can create a video of your favorite places to visit, eat, run, bike, fish.... whatever you do and have a number of places you travel to do it! For example, there are the top 10 hamburgers in MN, 10 favorite campsites and 10 favorite bait shops. Our area could create one that features the top 10 reasons to visit Leech Lake or the top 10 reasons to shop Walker. It would be a fun project and rewarding to see it posted on the Explore MN. website.

As Explore MN continues to look at ways to improve the website, another area that came up was the state map needs improvement. To begin that process the tourism regions needed to be changed and reduced in number. There had been 30 different regions to go to and the committee has worked to get that number reduced. At the April tourism meeting, it was presented that there would be 5 regions and then each of those regions would have 3-4 sub-regions, each of these sub-regions will appear on a drop down nenu when you click on the region you are interested in visiting. These changes will be seen in the next few months as Explore MN continues to make upgrades to the website.

If you are interested in creating a video, please call the chamber office for more information..
